Helena Richardson

Helena Richardson is a Group Leader at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia, where she uses the vinegar fly, Drosophila, to study cell proliferation and model tumourigenesis. She received her PhD at Adelaide University, Australia, followed by postdoctoral research with Steve Reed at Scripps Research Institute, CA, on yeast cell-cycle control, with Pat O'Farrell at UCSF, CA, on Drosophila cell-cycle regulation. On returning to Adelaide, Australia, she worked in association with Robert Saint on Drosophila G1–S-phase regulation, and collaborated with Sharad Kumar on apoptosis in Drosophila, before setting up her laboratory in Melbourne in 2000.
