Ernst Stelzer

Ernst Stelzer is a physicist and groupleader at the EMBL. He worked on confocal fluorescence microscopy since 1983 and developed the 4Pi microscope and other multi-lens detection schemes in the 1990s. Recently, he invented and implemented the novel lightsheet-based fluorescence microscopes (SPIM). He authored about 220 papers, books and patents.
