After the discovery of activin, follistatin, and FGFs, his interest turned to developmental biology and his group identified BMP as the endogenous ventralization signal in Xenopus, demonstrated that PCP pathway is essential for vertebrate gastrulation, and is currently interested in how cell polarity is established by the extracellular environment.
